19 February 1943, IFF gear exploded during take-off, crashed and burnt at Wards (photo Brian Walker)
A19-9 (T4928) was a MK.1c Beaufighter built by the Fairy Aviation Co. Stockport UK received by the RAAF on 20 April 1942. It arrived at 30 Squadron on 17 June 1942 it was coded āJā and on 26 March 1943 it was approved for conversion to components.
