A RARE STOCK OF BEER was opened by a famous Beaufighter squadron in New Guinea to celebrate its first “kill” in air combat. Here air crews are toasting Flight Lieut. Arthur Thomson, of S.A., and Pilot Officer Ed. Marron, East St. Kilda, who shot down an enemy bomber. The squadron had destroyed or damaged nearly 50 aircraft on the ground without having caught one in the air. –Dept. of Air photo.
