AITCHESON, Allan Graham - 432654
Description
Was born in Charters Towers QLD on 27 January 1922 he enlisted in the RAAF in Sydney on 6 January 1943 and was later posted to 30 Squadron probably arriving in July 1944. He was a Flight Sergeant and this was sortie No. 15. He was acting as navigator for Flight Lieutenant Moody when their aircraft A19-209 crashed on the Bomderai Peninsula in Dutch New Guinea on 20 September 1944. He was captured by the Japanese and died as a POW on 25 January 1945.
His name appears on a Roll of Honour in Charters Towers QLD. His name appears on The Roll of Honour at The Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
